A Sleek, Timeless NYC Wedding at the Center for Brooklyn History

Photos by Ruby Olivia Photography

Kelly and AJ's Brooklyn wedding was sleek, stylish, and completely timeless. Their ceremony and reception took place at the historic Center for Brooklyn History in Brooklyn Heights, a landmark library venue known for its soaring ceilings, stained glass, and hand-carved woodwork. Wrapped in a palette of crisp white, black, and fresh green, every detail of this NYC wedding felt intentional and true to who they are. The entire day was captured beautifully by Ruby Olivia Photography, whose candid, artful photos brought every elegant and emotional moment to life, while Natura Collective documented it all on film.

The CeremonY

Kelly got ready at the Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel downtown, with hair by Rosibel and makeup by Lila, while AJ got ready at their apartment. The two chose to skip a first look, saving that first glimpse of each other for the aisle.

The Center for Brooklyn History runs on a strict timeline: vendors were allowed in at 3pm for a 5pm guest arrival. In just two hours, our team and an incredible group of vendors transformed this landmark. Gala Productions completed a full draping install in the Great Hall, softening the soaring space for the reception, while Broadway Party Rentals supplied the rentals that pulled every room together.

Florals by Joy Flower Pot set the tone from the moment guests arrived. A stunning floral install wrapped the corner of the staircase leading up to the Othmer Library, where the ceremony took place. Inside, the couple was framed by draped pedestals overflowing with tulips, and guests were nestled among the stacks of the beautiful, moody library, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling books.

Their friend Court Hargrove played guitar as Kelly and AJ each made their way down the aisle. AJ's sister officiated, which made the vows feel even more personal, a moment shared with family in the truest sense.

COCKTAIL HOUR

After the ceremony, guests made their way down to the Fransioli Gallery for cocktail hour while Kelly and AJ stayed behind for portraits in the library. The towering shelves and warm, moody light made for the most romantic backdrop.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. The newlyweds made their grand entrance down the staircase into cocktail hour to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," and the celebration officially began.

Guests then moved into the Great Hall, transformed by Gala's draping and lined with lush mounds of white tulips down every table. Once everyone was seated, Kelly and AJ welcomed their guests with a heartfelt, sentimental speech that set the tone for the night.

The personal touches made this reception truly theirs. Kelly and AJ collect vintage spoons wherever they go, so each guest found a vintage spoon at their place setting with a special note attached. A giant spoon sat on the cake table, too, and quickly became the most fun dance floor prop of the night.

Dinner by Purslane was served family style, keeping the room warm, lively, and full of conversation.

Kelly and AJ cut their cake from La Cantine Cakes in front of all their guests, then went right into their first dance to "That's How Strong My Love Is" by Otis Redding.

Then the energy shifted completely. A surprise performance by drag queen West Dakota, sent the room into a frenzy. DJ Zuri of Sounds Buono invited everyone to join in, and the dance floor didn't slow down from there.

To close out the night, guests lined up and threw confetti as the couple drove away, before everyone met back up for an after party at their local bar in Fort Greene.

Kelly and AJ's love was evident throughout the entire planning process, and it shined through on the wedding day, surrounded by all of the family and friends who mean the most to them.
